![]() Furthermore, routes in the campus mainly planned for the vehicles rather than pedestrians and cyclists. University Putra Malaysia’s (UPM) Serdang campus is mainly dependent on the personal cars and shuttle buses. However, Malaysian government started to move toward sustainable society, which sustainable transportation is one of the parts. For further study, it is necessary to analyze additional subjects (i.e., elderly) and long-term effects.Ībstract: During the last decade transportation in Malaysia has been changed and stepped forward into motorized-transportation. Cushioning shoe provided increased progressive force, decreased loading rate, and decreased COM-COP angle. Joint angle trajectory of ankle, joint range of motion (ROM) of the hip, and peak force were significantly different among shoe types. The results showed that there were different effects of types of shoe on lower extremities. ![]() For comparison among shoes, walking velocity, hip, knee and ankle joint angles (range of motion, trajectory), ground reaction force (loading rate, the decay rate, maximal vertical ground reaction force), and center of mass - center of pressure inclination angle (COM-COP angle) were used. 3D motion capture system was used to acquire kinematic and kinetic data using six infrared cameras and two force plates. The experiment was performed walking on the straight walkway (10m x 3m) five times with preferred walking speed. In this experiment, cushioning shoe having cushion for heel (BOSS Corps., Korea) which is designed as a lever, MBT having an unstable rounded shoe (Masai Barefoot Technology, MBT, Swiss) and normal running shoe (Adidas, Germany) were compared. As a result, the numbers of people walking were influenced the floor performance, which indicated five peoples walking show the highest response up to ISO level due to vibration compared with one people walking.Ībstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in kinematic and kinetic gait characteristics due to outsole structure of the shoe. Then, the results were checked against the vibration criteria level guideline as a crude tool comparison. The vibration data was then analysed in ModalV analysis to generate the vibration response. Further analysis was carried out by using finite element software package ANSYS to simulate the floor under vibration inputs to obtain natural frequency and mode shapes of the floor structure. Laser Doppler Vibrometer was used to obtain vibration data when people are walking. This paper investigates the vibration response on floor performance due to one, three and five of people walking. Although it is specified as low level amplitude, walking induced vibrations can cause discomfort to human occupants and alarming for a certain items of precision sensitive equipment. Floor vibrations are generally caused by dynamic loads applied particularly by human activity especially walking. Vibration in building is one of the important problems which need to consider, especially in designing the floor.
